Fourth Year
Objectives
The main objective of year 4 is the final qualification of the trainees, both in a personal as well as in a professional perspective, for the practical work with clients. Main emphasis is on the trainee’s identity as a therapist. Therefore, the introduction of new subjects is very limited in year 4.
The focal point will always be on the family perspective, no matter whether the work is with single clients, couples or families.
Emphasis will be on:
- further development of personal qualification for family therapeutic and psychotherapeutic work
- theoretical background for a dynamic understanding of therapeutic work with single clients, couples and families
- training for specific therapeutic work
- guidelines for attending to processes within groups, in teaching and during counselling
- work as a supervisor
Independent therapeutic work
At the end of year 4 the final written paper is based on the trainee’s independent therapeutic work with their individual case families under indirect supervision.
Trainees who do not work in psychotherapy or related areas are expected to engage with registered social institutions or charities, for example with social projects based on voluntary work.
